The first in the series, Tul 1, will focus on the fundamental concepts of the theory of power and techniques. We’ll be applying the theory of power to the technical aspects and movements from the patterns.

Please note that this presentation will focus predominantly on theory and technical education. Writing material is required at the seminar.

1 point - hand technique to the body, hand technique to the head, kick to the body

2 points - kick to the head, flying hand technique to the head

3 points - flying kick to the head

Sparring gear is required.

Competition will be inside the studio.

Jue’s TKD is pleased to present a panel of master instructors and world-class champions covering stretching, patterns, sparring, and self-defense. The 5 presentations will give you new ideas to get ahead in Taekwon-Do.

Students may attend the seminar in-person at Jue’s Taekwon-Do or Wushu Taekwon-Do Academy. Students that are unable to attend in-person will also be able to join in virtually via Zoom. We’ve refined the virtual experience by incorporating a moving camera so that all participants will get a good view of the presentation.

Meet the Instructors!

Grandmaster Robert Wheatley

9th degree black belt | President of the United States International Taekwon-Do Federation

Grandmaster Wheatley is an internationally recognized 9th degree black belt. He has trained thousands of students and world champions across the globe. He is currently located in Reno, Nevada.

Master Nick Malefyt

7th degree black belt | Certified Arnis Instructor

Master Malefyt has been training for more than 40 years and is certified both nationally and internationally. He is the owner and head instructor of All-Star Taekwon-Do. He has been teaching Taekwon-Do since 1996 and is a certified Arnis instructor.

Sabunim Chris Leyesa

6th degree black belt | Gold Medal ITF World Champion

Mr. Leyesa owns and operates his own Taekwon-Do studio in New Jersey. He’s been positively impacting his community through teaching Taekwon-Do and Wushu for over 20 years. Mr. Leyesa recently won the Senior Male 6th Degree Patterns at the 2022 World Championships.

Sabunim Arjun Dhingra

6th degree black belt | Team USA Headcoach

Mr. Dhingra is a 6th degree black belt who trains under Grand Master Wheatley and Master Jue. He started his Taekwon-Do training in Reno, NV at the age of 8 and has continued training for 34 years.  He is a 2-time world champion (2007 and 2014) and he is currently the co-head coach for Team USA. Mr. Dhingra enjoys traveling the country to work with athletes who want to also compete in international events. In his professional life, he works as a real estate consultant and mortgage advisor of 20 years.  

Sabunim Federico Vindigni

5th degree black belt | 3x Gold Medal World Champion

Mr. Vindigni is a 5th degree black belt with an impressive 3 world championship medals. He placed 1st at the 2016 WC in England, 2018 WC in Argentina, and 2022 WC in Amsterdam. He currently lives in Southern California where he is attending California State University Fullerton.

Master Nick Malefyt is a VII Dan black belt based out of West Caldwell, New Jersey. He owns and operates All-Star Taekwon-Do and is internationally recognized by the International Taekwon-Do Federation. Master Malefyt is a certified Arnis instructor which is the national martial art of the Philippines. Arnis focuses on weapon based fighting with sticks, knives, and bladed weapons.

General Rules

  • Competition is open to all ranks.

  • ITF Patterns only.

  • Brackets are sorted by age and rank. (The senior umpire can make changes based on competitors.)

  • Students will be scheduled out and assigned a time.

  • Competition rules are as follows:

    • Single elimination rounds.

    • One ring, two competitors.

    • Judging panel of 3 - 5 black belts.

    • Competitors will perform the highest pattern of the lowest rank.
